The day that letters from Santa arrive is a special day. It will be brightened with a touch of joy and cheerfulness. As you might imagine, the expressions on your kids’ faces will be delightful. You will want to have your camera close by. But don’t be surprised if each of your children reacts a little differently. One may excitedly read the Santa letters aloud and another may sneak off to another room to see what secrets the letter holds.
That’s part of what makes the occasion so much fun. It’s similar to other holiday events. For example; decorating the Christmas tree or creating holiday craft projects. Some kids want to be involved in the process from start to finish and others only want to add the finishing touches.
When it comes down to it, holiday traditions are tweaked by all of us to accommodate our unique situations and needs. That’s what makes us all so special and that’s what makes the world interesting. It’s what adds sparkle and shine to life.
Consider the simple holiday craft projects and writing letters to Santa. Some kids write Santa letters that are long and detailed and others get straight to the point. Some will spend an enormous amount of time decorating the letter and envelope, explaining that Santa letters are so important, they have to be beautiful.
Of course, it’s not just kids that have unique spins on holiday traditions. Some adults insist on having special champagne toasts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and some have stringent rules about when the tree can be decorated or when the gifts can be exchanged. In fact, some even create Christmas countdown calendars that determine the day that the kids will write their letters to Santa.
Like snowflakes, we seem alike on the surface but on closer examination we can see that each of us is unique and beautiful. And each of us should be admired and appreciated for the things that make us special. Take the time to consider the exceptional things about the ones you love and give gratitude.
