Kids are very savvy these days. In fact, many of them want proof that the letters they receive from Santa are real. They look for things like a post mark from the North Pole and a stamp from Santa. They know that if the letters from Santa are genuine they will be personalized.

This means a typical form letter will never do. An authentic letter from Santa should include personalized information – things like the color of the child’s eyes and the name of someone significant in the child’s life. Naming the town the kid lives in also adds a touch of authenticity. But if the letter isn’t written with the right enthusiasm, and just the right tone, then it will never come across as sounding like Santa Claus.

And who knows Santa Claus better than kids? After all, it is kids that read stories about Santa, they watch TV shows and movies about Santa, and they dream about Santa. That makes them the experts on Santa Claus.
Even Santa letters that try too hard to convince kids that the letter is really from Santa will be seen as fakes. The best way to carry on the tradition of Santa letters that keep kids believing in Santa, Rudolph, the elves and Mrs. Claus is to send one of the best Santa letters available. In fact, you can get an entire package from Santa that will astound your kids.

These packages include everything from North Pole snow to a swatch of Santa’s suit to one of Mrs. Claus’ Famous Sugar Cookies. And every letter from Santa comes with a free video greeting from Santa. Kids will love that.

Santa letters are an inexpensive gift that does much more than simply make a moment fun – these are the kind of gifts that create treasured childhood memories. The Santa letters become cherished keepsakes that kids hold on to for years. They become reminders of a wonderful Christmas and as these children grow up Santa letters becomes a tradition they continue with their own children. Share the joy and love of Santa letters this year – they really can add to the magic of the season!

Debbie C. The reason is simple really. This tradition focuses on a holiday icon; a hero that kids adore. And kids can enjoy this tradition with or without the involvement of their parents. All they need is paper and pencil to make this tradition happen. But of course, that’s not the ideal set up for this holiday favorite.

Writing letters to Santa Claus is much more fun when it becomes a family event. And kids love to send Santa letters that are artfully decorated with glitter, stickers, and beautiful stationery. And luckily enough, almost as if by magic, it seems that in every household there is at least one adult that has the real Santa address at the North Pole.

The Santa letters naturally lead to children hoping for letters from Santa Claus. And that has resulted in another tradition of sorts. Over the years parents have done what they could to secretly write letters themselves and try to convince their kids that these letters had a post mark from the North Pole and were really written by Santa. But nowadays they can simply order authentic Santa letters online.

Not only do the kids get personalized letters from Santa Claus, but they also receive a video greeting from Santa. In fact, parents can order packages that include a Santa’s Nice List Certificate or even one of Mrs. Claus’ Famous Sugar Cookies.

Decorating for the holiday season is another favorite Christmas tradition. Besides having a Christmas tree as a focal point we like having signs of Christmas evident throughout our homes. We accomplish this by adding garland to the handrails of our staircase and along the mantles of our fireplaces. We also hang mistletoe above doorways and add tabletop decorations wherever we can. We even move our decorating thirst outdoors and add lawn ornaments and lights to our house and yard.

The most basic holiday tradition is probably that of gift giving. We still give gifts to those we care about during the Christmas holiday. But during these economic hard times the gift giving has changed somewhat. Many people are now giving ‘gifts from the heart’ and recipients are loving it. These gifts are often handmade items. They may be things that are simple craft projects or in other cases they are family heirlooms that are being passed down as holiday gifts. This ‘getting back to basics’ has put new meaning on the concept of ‘giving from the heart’.

As you celebrate the holidays this year, consider the ways you celebrate. Do you follow traditions that generations from the past have, or are you setting new trends for your family? Is writing letters to Santa Claus a family event at your house? And what sort of gifts will you be giving this year?

The traditions that children follow in their homes as they grow up tend to set the way for how the traditions they will follow throughout their life. We can choose to focus on having time together to write letters to Santa, to create Christmas crafts, or to simply find time to bond. These special times can help strengthen family ties and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

After your kids write their letters to Santa they will be waiting anxiously for letters from Santa that reassure them that they are on Santa’s Nice List. You can order the best Santa Claus letters online and get a free video greeting for your kids that will amaze them. Get back to basics this year. Spend time bonding with those you love.

Debbie C. Nothing but the best Santa letters sent straight from the North Pole. Wouldn’t your kids love to receive a personalized letter from Santa himself?

Nowadays kids can have so much more than a simple note signed as Santa. In these modern times they can have it all. Why not order genuine letters from Santa that come with a free video greeting from Santa? These greetings are absolutely adorable!

But that’s not all. You can even choose packages that include one of Mrs. Claus’ Famous Sugar Cookies and a swatch of Santa’s suit.

The holiday season should be special for everyone, but especially for children. Kids are often thrilled with some of the simplest things. This includes letters from Santa, mistletoe hanging in doorways and a lighted Christmas tree.

Of course, Christmas wouldn’t be complete without Santa Claus! He is a holiday icon and hero. He’s been around for hundreds of years and he will be here for hundreds more. He is loved by children everywhere.

Santa Claus represents the good that we all have in our hearts. And it seems that during the holiday season, perhaps partly because of Santa, we are more in touch with that part of ourselves. It is easier to be kind and to give than during other times of the year.

Whether it is Santa Claus that brings out the good in us or not, a belief in Santa is a nice thing for kids. It helps them to believe that all things are possible. They envision this magical winter paradise where Santa and his reindeer live. When kids write letters to Santa they feel certain that he will read them.

And letters from Santa just confirm for them that he is real and that they have made his Nice List. When kids also enjoy a free video greeting from Santa they are ecstatic! That’s why these are the best Santa letters online.

Debbie C. They write lots of letters to Santa Claus before Christmas. I think some of them are just for practice though.

I have four grandkids, two boys and two girls. Daniel is getting older now and he is beginning to question whether Santa really exists at all. But he’s still unsure enough that he doesn’t want to skip writing to Santa.

Savannah is next in age. She still believes and is always ready to tell Daniel that he better too. Savannah is happy to explain in detail how it is possible for reindeer to fly and for Santa Claus to deliver gifts around the world in one night. She can explain it all and there is no room for doubts or nonbelievers.

Madilynn is four years old. She’s at one of those really fun ages – you know, she believes in Santa Claus and gets excited about every little thing. With every commercial or ad she tells me she wants ‘that’ for Christmas.

And finally there’s Matthew. Matthew is only two. Of course he’s too young to really know what’s going on but he’s starting to get the idea that holidays are special times.

Here’s the really fun part; when the kids are all together at my house and they decide to write letters to Santa, all four of them work together. Daniel and Savannah take charge and help the younger ones. They instruct them about the importance of making Santa letters pretty and how the letters have to look nice so Santa will open them. It’s funny to see their frustration when Matthew scribbles on his paper with a crayon and Madilynn takes what seems like forever to write a single word.

But in the end they complete the project and each of them seem to feel proud. As I said, some of these letters to Santa are only for practice. When they ‘get it just right’ we mail the letters off to the North Pole. Then the wait begins for the letters from Santa.

Debbie C. Even as adults we can enjoy getting ‘into the zone’ if only for a few moments, of believing that anything is possible.

This sort of belief can help us escape from reality, if only for a brief period of time. It can offer us a time to forget about the problems and responsibilities we may be struggling with. For a short period of time we can go back in time – back to the place in time when we were children and we believed in things like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and magic.

Can you remember how wonderful that felt? Don’t you deserve that freedom and bliss again? Grant yourself the right to enjoy that. All you have to do is allow yourself simple pleasures.

Spend time with children and let yourself get involved in their world – be a part of their fun and games. When it’s time for them to create Christmas craft projects – you create some of your own. But create the same kind that the kids do. And when they write letters to Santa Claus, you write letters to Santa.

When you write these letters to Santa, try to imagine that Santa really does exist and that he has the power to bring you whatever you want. Imagine the way kids must feel. You’ll understand why Christmas holds so much magic for kids and why it is so important to encourage this belief for as long as possible.

When we lose it we lose much more than we realize and unfortunately, it’s something that we can never really get back. For example, even if you can imagine for a few moments time that Santa exists, and you send a wonderful letter to the North Pole, unlike the children, it is very doubtful that you will be waiting for letters from Santa.

The kids on the other hand will wait anxiously. And when those letters arrive they will be thrilled. Let the magic live on!

Debbie C. The kids write their letters to Santa, often right after Halloween, and then wait anxiously for Santa to respond. After all, every kid knows that until those letters from Santa arrive there’s really no way to know if they are on Santa’s Nice List or not.

This article is about a fun activity for you and your kids. It just might help to keep your kids occupied for at least one evening during the holiday season and it might come in handy from then on. The Christmas season brings out excitement in little ones. It’s to be expected. They are always asking how many more days until the next holiday event and of course, how many more days until Santa Claus comes. We really can’t do a lot to change that so we have to find ways to work with it. Here’s my solution.

Why not make your own special countdown calendar. Make it meaningful to your family. For instance, if you traditionally decorate your tree on Thanksgiving Day, then you could start your calendar with that. And on that day, along with a turkey or Pilgrim, maybe you would also add a Christmas tree.

As you and your kids add the icons and emblems to the calendar you can get creative. In fact, the more creative you get the better. Use stickers and whatever you can think of. Small buttons and craft supplies work well too.

Of course you will want to have glitter and markers on hand. Consider things like special visits. If ‘grandma’ will be coming on a specific date maybe you can add her photo to that date. If you get snow on a particular day you could add a snowflake. You will want to mark the day that you write your letters to Santa as well as the day that the letters from Santa arrive.

You get the idea. Instead of buying a pre-made countdown calendar, make your own. It will have special meaning to you and you will have fun making it.

Happy Holidays!

Debbie C. It will be brightened with a touch of joy and cheerfulness. As you might imagine, the expressions on your kids’ faces will be delightful. You will want to have your camera close by. But don’t be surprised if each of your children reacts a little differently. One may excitedly read the Santa letters aloud and another may sneak off to another room to see what secrets the letter holds.

That’s part of what makes the occasion so much fun. It’s similar to other holiday events. For example; decorating the Christmas tree or creating holiday craft projects. Some kids want to be involved in the process from start to finish and others only want to add the finishing touches.

When it comes down to it, holiday traditions are tweaked by all of us to accommodate our unique situations and needs. That’s what makes us all so special and that’s what makes the world interesting. It’s what adds sparkle and shine to life.

Consider the simple holiday craft projects and writing letters to Santa. Some kids write Santa letters that are long and detailed and others get straight to the point. Some will spend an enormous amount of time decorating the letter and envelope, explaining that Santa letters are so important, they have to be beautiful.

Of course, it’s not just kids that have unique spins on holiday traditions. Some adults insist on having special champagne toasts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and some have stringent rules about when the tree can be decorated or when the gifts can be exchanged. In fact, some even create Christmas countdown calendars that determine the day that the kids will write their letters to Santa.

Like snowflakes, we seem alike on the surface but on closer examination we can see that each of us is unique and beautiful. And each of us should be admired and appreciated for the things that make us special. Take the time to consider the exceptional things about the ones you love and give gratitude.

Debbie C. So where do you fall in? To be honest, most people are somewhere in the middle. Most of us truly enjoy the holiday season, but, and that can be a big but, we will admit that Christmas can be a stressful time of year.

There are lots of reasons for the stress. For many of us it’s the money. Let’s face it, times are hard and many people are struggling just to make ends meet. When Christmas comes along that can add to their budget burdens. Everyone wants to give gifts to family and friends at Christmas time. And fortunately there are lots of inexpensive gifts that can be purchased. A handmade gift is usually treasured more than something that is store bought.

But let’s move away from money concerns. Let’s say that money is not an issue at all. Maybe you just don’t enjoy the get togethers. You know the ones; for instance, the times when there’s a house full of people and all the kids are rambunctious and excited. Like maybe when there’s a group of kids at the dining room table writing letters to Santa Claus. Times like that can sometimes get a little loud and rowdy. The kids get more excited as time goes by, and you get more frustrated. You want them to have fun writing their Santa letters but you also want some tranquility.
Then there’s the shopping. Now some people love to shop and others hate it with a passion. And other people like to shop only for themselves, and still others only like to shop under certain conditions.

So what can you do to make all of these holiday times less stressful and more joyful? Try planning ahead. If money is an issue maybe you can start your shopping early in the year. If you purchase just one gift per week or every other week you won’t have to spend a huge amount of money all at once. Another option is to consider shopping at a store that has a lay-away plan. And once again, handcrafted gifts make wonderful keepsakes that are treasured for years to come. If you can crochet, knit, do woodwork, or other crafts, consider making some of the gifts you give. And don’t be afraid to scale your gift-giving list down a little.

As far as keeping the kids settled down when they are writing letters to Santa or doing other things related to Christmas, like decorating the Christmas tree; I have found that getting myself involved in what they are doing works best. I actually even write my own letters to Santa. When I do I let the kid in me come out and I find that I enjoy the project.

Shopping has become a non-issue for me. I do much of my shopping online. For anything that I ‘enjoy’ shopping for, I go to the store. Otherwise, I use my computer and credit card.

Debbie C. When the holiday season gets close it’s time to start making plans for special time with your family. The good news is, that special time can be spent in simple ways. Just plan an evening around writing letters to Santa Claus and making a few Christmas craft projects.

If you already have a craft box you’re way ahead of the game. If you don’t then now’s a great time to start one. Just use a plastic tub or container or some sort. Add some construction paper, markers, crayons, glitters, buttons, ribbon, scraps of fabric, some paper, and, well, you probably get the idea. Just start adding whatever you can think of that could be used in craft projects. Once you get your mind around it you will find that there are all kinds of things you can add.

Then, when Christmas approaches and the time is right, plan your Santa letter writing day. Your kids will love you for it! Let them decorate their letters with pictures and stickers – and don’t forget the glitter. Envelopes have to be decorated too. Kids want to be sure to address those letters to Santa Claus at the North Pole. Of course, you know they will be waiting anxiously for their letters from Santa!

After the letters to Santa are finished you can move on to some of your craft projects. A favorite at my house is magical reindeer food. This is an easy project. Just mix up some oatmeal and glitter. That’s it! Another holiday project that we do is snowmen made out of Styrofoam balls. We usually end up with a complete family of them.

The point is, this family time is fun for all of us and it creates special memories for each member of the family. The next day I drive the kids to the post office to mail their Santa letters and then their wait begins. They wait anxiously until the mailman brings them their letters from Santa. That’s how they know they’ve made Santa’s Nice List again!

Debbie C. Just like it feels when standing in line for a great ride, the preparation for writing these cherished letters can result in excitement. It’s important to get everything just right when contacting Santa, because he is after all in charge of the delivery of Christmas toys for all little boys and girls.

As kids carefully prepare their letters to Santa Claus they can’t help but become excited and filled with anticipation. This is one of those times that a well stocked craft box will come in handy. Ideas for decorative touches include markers of all colors – including red, green, gold and silver, glitter, stickers, crayons, glue and even some old Christmas cards and wrapping paper.

Children can be quite imaginative when it comes to decorating these letters to Santa. Some kids focus on adding pictures or drawings of snowmen and reindeer and others like to add images of a Christmas trees with an overflow of gifts under it.
The content of the letters are always personalized. Some kids like to use this opportunity to explain away any bad behavior – they definitely don’t want to risk being on Santa’s naughty list, and others simply want to ensure that Santa Claus knows each and everything they would like to find under the tree. Still others like to remind Santa of all the good things they have done throughout the year. By the way, these personalized letters to Santa make ideal Christmas gift lists for parents. After all, most children are very open in listing their wants.

Of course, the envelope must be carefully decorated also. The kids have to feel confident that Santa will want to open the letter! Once completed and mailed the wait begins. You see, the next part of this is receiving an authentic letter from Santa Claus with a post mark from the North Pole. This can be compared to the scary parts of a roller coaster ride. Kids worry that if they don’t receive a response they have been forgotten, or worse yet, they are on Santa’s naughty list.

Santa Claus helps to keep the spirit of holiday magic alive. The longer our kids believe, the longer we as parents can enjoy watching our children have the advantage of believing in the impossible. Encouraging the tradition of writing letters to Santa is one way to help urge Christmas magic. As a parent you will likely feel responsible for seeing that your children receive personalized letters from Santa. The letters will make your kids’ Christmas more special and you will cherish the memories forever. Be sure to have a camera ready to capture the expressions of delight when they see their authentic package from Santa arrive!

Debbie C. Children must be made to feel important. They most of all must enjoy the Christmas Season. Families can help children feel special by including them in various activities and events. The kids can write letters to Santa for themselves as well as for each member of the family. They can explain in their letters what their father, mother or other sibling needs and wants. If the kids are allowed to give their own ideas, they will feel very proud on Christmas morning when they see the gifts they asked for being opened. They will feel it is because of them that each member received what they wanted for Christmas. This will help make Christmas memories that will last for the kids and for all family members.

Bring the kids along when buying stuff for Christmas. Leave them guessing on where you are going. This will bring excitement to them. Kids are known to be very creative. They can pick things that are very nice. All year round parents have taken control of their kids. Give them the chance to take a bit of control during the Christmas season. Very often kids are able to impress adults with their creativity. Kids can pick out Christmas trees and other ornaments that will look beautiful in their homes. Just make sure that they pick the right color combinations. During this time parents must act as the kids’ trusted assistants, not their guards. Let them say that they were the ones who chose the Christmas Tree and the ornaments.

The kids must be praised for the wonderful things that they did. Parents must realize that Christmas day is really a momentous one for them. They feel it much more than adults. It’s a meaningful day for them and that is how it should be. To kids Christmas is magical. After all, little children believe in Santa Claus and the reindeer flying through the sky and delivering toys around the world. What a wonderful thought! Keep that magic alive for as long as possible. If kids can believe in Santa and Rudolph they can believe anything is possible – and that means they will believe they can do anything they set their minds to. They won’t have the constraints put on them like we do as adults when we think about our future and what we want.

When mothers are in the kitchen preparing Christmas food, the kids should right there helping, they will really like it and it will bring mother and child closer. The kids can brag about their cooking skills to their guests and family and friends. Christmas is one time when children must be allowed to have bragging rights - at least for this season. Give them chores that they can do, little things like mixing the sauces or putting the ingredients in the food. Don’t let them do the hard stuff like chopping because they can get hurt.

It’s wonderful for them to actively participate because this will make them like an essential part of the family that helps in making the holiday special. It helps to strengthen the family bonds for everyone. They will treasure every moment of it. Kids will fully understand and acknowledge the real meaning of Christmas when they are given an active part in the preparations. This will be a fun loving Christmas for kids if they are allowed to be a part of every element of the preparation, planning, activities and events. Parents will feel elated that they have allowed their kids to show their creativeness in all the things they did for the Christmas Season.

Kids must write thank you letters to Santa for all the gifts that they and their families receive. These thank you letters and other letters to Santa must be placed in a prominent place within the Christmas Tree. The letters can be decorated nicely so they too become an attractive holiday adornment. Christmas will be more delightful when kids are given the opportunity to show their skills and talents.

Debbie C. They also begin thinking about Santa letters and how to stay on Santa’s nice list. After all, the belief that a child is on Santa’s naughty list can be quite worrisome.
So it is a Christmas tradition for kids to write letters to Santa. Some families have even made this a family event. They save an evening for creating craft projects and writing the letters to Santa Claus. Sometimes this time also includes decorating the Christmas tree or baking cookies. It can truly be a wonderful time to share and bond as a family.
Ideally you will have a craft box that contains some nice paper and things like glitter, glue, bright markers and even some stickers. Other ideas include old Christmas cards and even wrapping paper from years gone by. You see, kids always want to decorate their letters to Santa. A plain piece of paper and envelope will never do when it will be seen by Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Rudolph!
Parents are expected to know the secret address at the North Pole that the letters should be sent to. Of course, if you don’t know that address you won’t have to worry because your local post office can help. They are very used to getting these letters. One of the nice things about letters to Santa is the fact that they make wonderful guides for adults when they are shopping.
Children always list what they want for Christmas. Additionally they are likely to add explanations for any bad behaviors as well as promises for the future. One of the most frequently asked for gifts is a simple response to the letter. It seems that every kid wants a letter from Santa. The good news is that you can easily take care of that request.
A letter from Santa can keep the magic alive for children. It helps to keep them believing in Santa Claus for a long time, which makes Christmas more fun for kids. The delight on their faces as they read these letters is pure joy – you will want to have your camera ready because you will treasure those expressions! Make This Christmas special – Order your Santa letters early! http://www.santaclausletters4kids.com

Debbie C. The holidays are never perfect without gifts. All of us must know how to express to our loved ones the real meaning of Christmas and what a better way to do it than by giving them special gifts.

Looking for the appropriate gifts should not be a cause for concern. Since we know our family, all it takes is a bit of discernment and knowing their likes and dislikes. Giving gifts will surely bring joy to all the members of our family. We have to remember that joy and happiness is the real essence of what Christmas is.

We can give them personalized gifts and it will make them remember a bit of us. Personalized gifts can come in many forms. These gifts can describe the good attributes of the person concerned. We can include little things like letters from Santa that say things we want to say to our loved ones. A card from Santa can be the perfect way to say I love you in a special way. Add that to personalized gifts and Christmas becomes magical. Presents like these can be in the form of glass and wooden frames with special sayings etched and written on it.

For wives, it is nice for their husbands to pamper them and give them personalized jewelry because this is really a lovely and wonderful gift to receive. Wives will treasure it very much and they will remember this for a long time.

For husbands, it will be just right for their wives to give them something like men’s bracelets or watches with nice love notes written at the back. They can also give them wooden signs with words nicely etched on them like “King Of This Cave” since many men spend time in their garages or special areas of the home this may be the perfect touch for that room.

For daughters that are in their teens, they enjoy jewelry or clothes that will fit their style and personalities. Parents must make sure that these accessories fit their characters. Laptops and other electronics also will be nice presents for sons.

For young children you can always stick with toys, things like balls, different types of electronic toys and even dolls will thrill them to no end. You really do not have to spend a lot of money to make Christmas special, you actually only need to offer your heartfelt love through actions and words.

Debbie C. But remember what happened to you last year? Time got away from you and in the end you were rushed and exhausted.

Don't let that happen again this year. Start thinking about what you need and how you will spend the Christmas holiday.Plan the little things and the big.

Do you know where you will order those Santa Claus letters from? And what are you going to have as a main course on Christmas - turkey, ham, or something else? What about stocking stuffers? Do you know you could start collecting those now so when the holiday season gets here it is one less worry?

It's also a great time to get a new Christmas tree. Order online at one of the major suppliers. Because you are buying early you will get a great deal. Another idea is to update your addresses - then you can have those Christmas cards and letters ready in no time at all.

Check out the online provider of Santa Claus letters 4 kids. A postmark from Santa can add a new sense of magic to the holidays.

Start planning now and this Christmas will be the best one yet!

Debbie C. Let’s think about this for a moment. They have been married for years and years and we always think of them as being kind and sweet – but as a relationship expert, I have wondered about the relationship when they are alone.

Mrs. Claus must get tired of all those elves being around all the time. What do you think? It seems that Santa Clause takes the concept of taking his work home with him to the max. Not only does he have the elves to work with, but they are actually a big part of the Santa Claus family.

Of course, it is a well known fact that Santa has animal helpers with his mail and other tasks. I have it from a very reliable source that his mice (referred to as Christmas Mice), are actually responsible for sorting all of his mail. It seems that Mrs. Claus had finally had enough of the mess of the piles of letters by the front door and around their home so she had a long talk with Santa Clause.

After giving it some thought, Santa remembered about the mice that had asked if they could help with the Christmas work. In the past Santa had always insisted that the mice were too small to do anything helpful, and instead, he asked the mice to simply enjoy the festivities of the holiday traditions. But when he gave serious thought to his mail and Mrs. Claus’ anger, he reconsidered.

The Christmas Mice now sort the mail and place it into beautifully decorated baskets that are marked according to countries, animals, and other factors. This has made the Claus home even more attractive and it is organized. Mrs. Clause loved the idea – in fact, she made hand sewn ribbons and bows for each of the baskets.
When it comes to the reindeer, I have been told that Mrs. Claus loves them as much as Santa himself does. In fact, she cooks a special stew each weekend for the reindeer. It consists of lots of carrots and a secret ingredient that she calls reindeer magic.

All in all I think Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus have a wonderful lifestyle and relationship. After all, not many of us could handle that much time with our partners for that long.

Debbie C. But although all across the nation there will be Christmas trees decorated this holiday season, none will be exactly like yours. However, you may choose to use a theme in your decoration, or even a very selective color scheme.

The nice thing about decorating with a theme or color scheme is that it helps makes the shopping experience easier when you are purchasing your decorations. Most of us have some great decorations that we use year after year – so we want to always find a way to fit those in.

Department stores are often the least expensive places to purchase Christmas decorations. Meaning you should be able to purchase your Christmas tree decorations, whether it’s lights or ornaments, for a relatively affordable price.
In addition to your local department store, you can also find and buy Christmas tree decorations from specialty Christmas shops. Depending on where you live, you should have at least one specialty Christmas shop in or around your home. The only problem with specialty Christmas shops is that their items tend to be higher priced; however, the quality is often better than what you would find in most department stores.

If you are looking for high quality, elegant Christmas tree decorations or ornaments, but you do not have access to a local specialty Christmas store, you may want to think about doing your shopping online. In addition to the Christmas tree decorations that you may find in your local department store, you may also be able to find individuals or companies who specialize in creating unique, handcrafted Christmas ornaments. As you might expect, handcrafted Christmas ornaments, especially those that are customized, cost a fairly decent amount of money, but it would be more than worth the extra cost to get exactly what you wanted.

As previously mentioned, there is a good chance that you already have a collection of Christmas tree decorations saved from previous years. If you are looking to save money, when decorating your Christmas tree, it may be best to use all of your old decorations. You could easily change things around a little bit so that your tree doesn’t look exactly the same as it did in previous years.

Whether you are shopping for Christmas tree decorations on a budget or not, you should easily be able to find the decorations that you wanted or at least the ones that you need. While it is fun to shop for Christmas tree decorations, the fun part starts when the tree decorating process actually begins. For the best memories, decorate your Christmas tree with someone that you know and love.

Debbie C. If you are like the average family that recognizes and acknowledges this enchanting holiday, you will be dragging out your favorite and most cherished decorations from past Christmases plus adding more. Most people seem to continuously build their supply of adornments. After all, there are always new and gorgeous ornaments, wreaths, garlands, and other decorative embellishments we can add. The truth is that having a wide range offers the opportunity to either have a themed oriented decorating scheme, or a free for all style.

Decorating your home and surroundings is usually a Christmas tradition that all members of the family participate in. Even the very young get into the act. And of course, us adults sometimes get a little emotional at Christmas time. It’s not hard to do as we remember about favorite Christmases from years gone by. And if we are really lucky we will even have some keepsakes from those times that seem to keep us in touch with our past.

Christmas traditions are a wonderful way to bridge the gap between old and new, and young and old. The passing down of traditions keeps a bond of sorts between the generations. Just as our parents celebrated during the holidays, we have followed, and our kids will too.

Whether your family traditionally spends a specific time making and displaying Christmas craft projects, or simply decorating, or just spending quality time together, these can all become cherished Christmas traditions. And great memories will be a part of each Christmas as the tradition is carried on.
My family’s Christmas traditions include putting our Christmas tree up on Thanksgiving Day. Afterward, we work on a few Christmas craft projects – a family favorite is making snowmen out of Styrofoam balls. It’s easy enough even for the youngest members to do and fun for all.

When the craft projects are complete it is time to write our letter to Santa Claus. The kids love this. I always look forward to learning what it is that the children really want for Christmas. When the letters are ready we put them in envelopes addressed to Santa Claus at the North Pole. And when the kids receive an authentic letter back with a Santa Claus postmark from the North Pole they are ecstatic. As soon as their eyes take in the postmark from Santa Claus they are overjoyed, and I get to share in their joy.

No matter what activities you and your family look forward to together, the vital thing is to make it fun and make it meaningful. There’s something about Christmas that is simply enchanting and I believe that magic lives in our hearts. It just takes thewonders of Christmas to bring it out in each of us.

Debbie C. Skeptics have asked why would shepherds
be out in the cold watching their flocks by night during the winter. Those
skeptics have put forward the thought that Jesus may really have been born in
the spring instead. It is therefore little wonder that there are many fancy
stories and tales that are told about Christmas and the Christmas season.

The most common fancy tale that everyone tells, particularly to children,
is about Santa Claus, also called St. Nicholas. But even if it were accepted
that Santa Claus existed, where does he live and how is he able to get to all
the houses of good boys and girls on Christmas Eve?

In the United States, there are rumors that Santa Claus has two homes. There is a home in Torrington, Connecticut, which is used as a distribution point for Santa and his many helpers, who are elves, to hand out gifts. And then, a second home is said to be located in Wilmington, New York, and that is where Santa Claus and his delivery reindeer crew are located.

But Santa can be visited in Cyberspace at anytime and what about the
widely held belief that Santa Claus really lives in a village at the North Pole?

The people of Finland also claim that their country is the official
residence of Santa Claus. That's because in Finland, you can actually visit a
village any time during the year and see Santa's workshop and observe Santa and
his elves hard at work as they prepare for their very important Christmas gift
delivery job on Christmas Eve. The only day when Santa's workshop is closed to
visitors is of course, on Christmas Eve.

Maybe a very smart visitor could visit Santa's workshop on the day before
Christmas Eve to see if there are any clues to how Santa and his reindeers plan
to make their trip the next day. That's because as the tale goes, in Finland
Santa Claus and his reindeers do not reach their destinations around the globe
by flying.

Finland welcomes visitors to Santa's workshop but there is nothing said
about whether visitors actually have any chance of having a word with the man
himself. While the chances of doing so are believed to be non-existent, among
the questions that inquiring minds could ask Santa is whether Rudolph is the son
of Donner (and to confirm the spelling - Donner or Donder) or whether Santa
spotted him in a different reindeer village one foggy Christmas Eve when he had
already started on his Christmas toy-delivery mission.

Questions about these things are often included in letters written to Santa Clause. Not surprisingly, in letters from Santa Clause children are sometimes surprised to learn that Santa wonders about things like whose idea was it to have Christmas trees and for the gifts to be placed under them.

The tradition of Christmas tree as it exists today comes from Germany by
way of immigrants. But it isn't clear how the tradition really gained a foothold
in Germany. One story is that Christians in Germany during the 16th century
started to bring trees that were decorated into their homes. Some of those
Christians would build pyramids for Christmas. The pyramids were made of wood
and would be decorated with evergreens and candles if wood was in short supply.

It is however Martin Luther, a Protestant reformer, who is said to have
been the first to add lighted candles as decoration to a tree based on his
inspiration from the brilliant light of twinkling stars that shone through
evergreen trees as he walked home one winter evening.

As the legend goes, Martin Luther placed a tree in a primary room of his
house and placed wires with small, lighted candles around the branches of the
tree. And that is how, as the tale goes, the Christmas tree as known today, was
started.

Debbie C. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas
therefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a
pleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
eat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can
smartly avoid it?

Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
Budget.'

'Eating on a Budget' is not about the cost of what is eaten, but about the
quantity of what is eaten. It is important that a 'budget' or eating in
moderation plan is developed because it is almost impossible to avoid exposure
to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may
risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.

A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie,
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
tell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours, because nobody will
be watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or
a cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are
heartily enjoying the holiday treats.

Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies
and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating
healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
candies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies.
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners
Association in 2004, chocolate was the favorite food gift that Americans said
they preferred to receive for the holidays. The lowly and much maligned fruit
cake was last on the list. The second favorite holiday food gift was a fruit
basket and a plate of cookies was third on the list, according to the
Association.

For an occasion such as a Christmas party or a dinner, including Christmas
Dinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating
on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected
should be carefully watched.

At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
the selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted,
then do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is
somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served
during Christmas Dinner will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely, one
can always say truthfully that the stomach is full.

And indeed, after a sumptuous Holiday Dinner, your body is likely to be full
from food and your soul full of joy from sharing another memorable holiday
tradition with family, friends and loved ones.

Debbie C. It was written by Robert L. May, who worked in the store's
advertisement or marketing department, to be used to attract more people into
the store. When the booklet was reissued in 1939, sales soared to more than 3.5
million copies. But it wasn't until a decade later, in 1949, that the story
really gained immense popularity when Gene Autry sang a musical version of the
fable. As a Christmas song, it is second only in popularity to 'White
Christmas.'

Rudolph, the ninth reindeer whose lighted nose guides Santa's sleigh through the
night, is now known worldwide as the song has been translated into more than 20
different languages and an animated television movie has also been based on the
story. Rudolph and his noticeable nose have also become the subject of jokes and
sparked more interest in reindeers which has led to much research into Santa and
the flying reindeers who pull his sleigh through the sky.

Along with the catchy rhythm of the lyrics, Rudolph's story is also appealing
because of the moral lessons it contains. As the story goes, Rudolph was
ostracized by the other reindeers, which laughed and teased him about his shiny
red nose. But on a foggy night, when Santa must have been concerned that he may
not be able to deliver his Christmas gifts around the world, Santa spotted him
and kindly asked if he would step to the front as the leader to 'guide my sleigh
tonight.' His shiny red nose would after all be very useful in lighting the way,
Santa thought. From then on 'all of the other reindeers loved him," and rightly
predicted that he 'would go down in history.'

Among the moral lessons the story can impart is that an attribute that is
perceived as negative or as a liability can be used for a positive purpose, or,
become an asset. It also makes the point that an individual should not let the
negative behavior of others define him or her and limit expectations of what can
be achieved. And it also illustrates how quickly opinions and attitudes about a
person can change.

The question still lingers however of where Rudolph came from. He is commonly
regarded as the son of Donner (or Donder), one of the original eight reindeers.
But the Snopes.com site rejects this however, saying that he dwelled in a
reindeer village elsewhere and it was there that he was seen by Santa who had
already started on his Christmas Eve journey to deliver gifts. And in a more
modern evolution of the story according to Wikipedia.com, an animation by the
British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) introduced a son, named Robbie, of
Rudolph. That son has now become the tenth reindeer.

It's also interesting to note that the idea of Santa's sleigh being pulled by
reindeers was originated in the poem, 'Twas The Night Before Christmas.' That
poem tells the story of St. Nicholas, who is Santa, calling his eight tiny
reindeers by their names, as previously mentioned, just before he came down the
chimney of a house to start filling the stockings from a sack full of toys he
carried on his back.

Debbie C. The economic downturn has resulted in the loss of jobs and decreased incomes. But even during difficult times the holidays and gift-giving events continue. Finding ways to make Christmas special without blowing a budget can be easier than you think.

One of the most important things to remember is that special time with family during the holidays can create lasting memories that are cherished forever. One of the most basic things a family can do is to create and/or continue fun family traditions that all can enjoy.

I suggest that you begin your Christmas holiday season on Thanksgiving Day. Here’s what my family does:

After the dinner and dessert is over and the table is cleared, all the children and some adults gather to create homemade Christmas decorations. By keeping a craft box at all times that is contributed to regularly, the options are limitless. We keep things like remnants of fabric, buttons, colorful pipe cleaners, ribbons and lace, construction paper, glue, glitter, Styrofoam balls and bits and pieces of miscellaneous items.

In the end the result is usually some very creative Christmas crafts and most are extremely cute. As the crafters work diligently to create their projects we have beautiful Christmas playing on the stereo. And after the creation process is over it is time to find the perfect spot for displaying them.

Next it’s back to the table for a final project of the day – which is writing letters to Santa. Each child usually spends time talking about this part of the day throughout the dinner so they already have a good idea of what they want to say to the old guy.

While writing the letters is fun for old and young alike, getting letters from Santa Claus is magical. The good news is that authentic letters from the North Pole with a postmark from Santa Claus are not only possible to get – they are inexpensive.

These simple ideas and others like them can result in a Christmas that is very memorable and one that will be cherished because it involves stress-free family time. Many of the decorations will be used year after year and the letter from Santa will become a childhood keepsake.

Debbie C. The Christmas season in the Caribbean is
also pleasant because it is far removed from the rainy season, which
usually occurs from late March to May. During Christmas time in the
Caribbean, the temperature is also more temperate and tolerable
compared to the searing hot days of the summer months.

As in many parts of the world, family, merriment, gift-giving are
among the many activities that the people of the Caribbean enjoy during
Christmas. Families often live in fairly close proximity to each other
however. But what makes getting together at Christmas so special is
that it often involves intense and laborious preparations that are not
done at any other time of the year.

In many homes, an intense cleaning is done in the two or three
weeks before Christmas Day. All furniture is moved and may even be
rearranged and new and fancy curtains put up for the season. The best
bed linens, tablecloths, cutlery and dinnerware are also used in
entertaining any visitors during the season. It is a common occurrence
for visitors, including people from the neighborhood, to stop for short
visits during the season.

During those visits, guests are entertained with certain food and
drinks, many of which are made only at Christmas time. These include
fermented drinks such as sorrel and mauby, as well as the alcoholic
drink rum punch. A special type of cake, called Black cake or
fruitcake, is also made at Christmas. It is made with raisins and other
dried fruit that are minced and placed in wine for several weeks.

This cake is the traditional dessert for Christmas dinner. The main
menu of a traditional Caribbean Christmas dinner includes baked
poultry, roast beef ham, boiled and steamed root vegetables, rice with
peas, seasoned rice or rice pilaf, with sorrel, rum punch or mauby as
the beverage.

Caroling has also been a tradition, although its practiced has
been declining in recent years. Small groups from churches or schools
will walk through neighborhoods singing Christmas carols or, will drive
from house to house to sing carols in neighborhoods primarily in rural
areas where houses are not always found in close proximity.

Two Christmas traditions that are unique to the Caribbean are the
practice of Jonkonoo and having a grand market. Jonkonoo consists of a
group of masked revelers who take part in a parade dancing to the beats
of drums, shaking tambourines and improvised instruments. The group
also include stilt walkers who appear as tall as some trees and single-
story buildings. Jonkonoos perform various antics to amuse onlookers
and to give candies and treats to children, especially younger children
who may seem scared of any of the Jonkonoo participants.

Grand market is the big outdoor market that takes place the week
before Christmas up to Christmas Eve. Outdoor markets, found in the
central points of regional towns, are common in the Caribbean as a
place to get fresh fruits, vegetables and produce that are grown by
local farmers. But at Christmas time, they also become filled with
assorted items that can be given as gifts and they bustle with activity
even after nightfall. It is a special treat for children to accompany
parents to grand market during the Christmas season.

Since Christmas falls during the high winter tourist season in
the Caribbean, Christmas is also an opportunity for many school
children to perform for tourists. Many hotels take advantage of the
fact that most schools and churches will have singing and dramatic
groups that perform the Christmas story and sing carols and Christmas
songs. These groups are often invited to provide local entertainment at
hotels and guesthouses during Christmas.

Debbie C. Using palm trees and participating in
processions are also characteristic features of activities related to
Christmas in many parts of Africa.

In South Africa, activities that occur outside during Christmas
include the usual caroling, but also the unusual ones of swimming and
camping. The beach and mountains play an important role during
Christmas in South Africa because the season occurs during the hottest
time of the year - summer.

Given the pleasant nature of the weather during Christmas,
families also take advantage of it by often going sightseeing in the
countryside on a relaxing drive in the late evening of Christmas Day. A
rich and sumptuous menu that includes a suckling pig or roast beef,
turkey, mince pies, yellow rice, vegetables and puddings usually makes
up the traditional South African Christmas dinner.

To create a festive environment, decorated pine branches and fir,
sparkling cotton wool and tinsel are used in homes and businesses as
decorations.

A similar decorative pattern of using evergreen, palm trees and
lighted candles are also seen in countries such as Ghana and Liberia.
While these are used in homes and businesses, they are also often
carried in processions and during caroling activities.

While South Africans gather at the beach during Christmas time to
enjoy the warm summer waters, people in other African nations often
gather outside at in town squares and in the streets to march, sing and
enjoy an overall feeling of merriment.

Despite the seemingly general similarity in activities, however,
countries have their own individual style that makes Christmas
celebrations unique.

Of all the celebrations in African nations, Christmas activities
in Ethiopia stand out for their difference in when they are celebrated
and how it is done. One of the features that make Ethiopian Christmas
different is that the main celebratory event occurs on Jan. 7, around
the time known as the Epiphany or Three Kings Day in North and South
America.

Given the general modest economic financial situations of a
significant number of the population in many African countries,
Christmas celebrations also tend to occur over a shorter period of
time, compared to activities in more wealthier countries.

Another difference in celebrations of Christmas in Ethiopia is
the participation of various people who take part in a pilgrimage and
converge on the capital city during Christmas Eve. These wanderers fill
the night air with a din of praying and chanting and create a
multicolor spectacle when they gather on Christmas morning to have a
religious service.

But retaining a similarity with other African nations, Ethiopians
enjoy a Christmas dinner that includes a meat stew. Stews, rice, root
vegetables such as yams, breads and soups often are part of the menu of
traditional Christmas day dinners in African nations.

Christmas dinners are likely enjoyed by families outside, where
everyone shares the meal while sitting in a circular pattern outside
under the shade of a sprawling tree, instead of sitting in a formal
setting at a table.

As is the practice in every household during Christmas, Africans
also exchange gifts. Popular items that are exchanged as Christmas
gifts include cotton cloth, soaps, sweets, pencils and books, all very
practical items that can be readily used. Again, this may be related to
the modest financial resources of up to half the population in many
African countries, as well as to cultural norms. Individuals aren't
able to afford extravagant gifts but they still want to surprise
children, family and friends at Christmas with an unexpected gift.

The generally pervasive cultural norm of humility and modesty that exists
among traditional African peoples, also plays an important role in not
having overreaching extravagance at Christmas.

Debbie C. First of all, it is important to understand the importance of holiday traditions.

When you think back over your past holidays - especially ones from your childhood, what do you remember the most? While many of us will remember a special gift received at one time or another, most of us will always treasure the memories of the love and security we felt during a holiday event. This might be a time that family and friends traditionally visited, or a time when the family did something together to celebrate in a special way.

Of course, it's wonderful if you can afford great things during the Christmas season - if a vacation can be added into the holiday fun that is definitely a way to make it special. But the reality is that most of us cannot do that. Even if we have the money we probably do not have the time. The fact is that money can hold us back from doing a lot of things that could make the holidays more memorable.

But the good news is that there are some wonderfully amazing ways to make Christmas magical without spending much money at all. A favorite in my home is taking at least one Saturday to create homemade Christmas decorations. The whole family gets involved.

We have a craft box that we use to hold things like extra buttons, styrofoam balls and other pieces of styrofoam (the kind used for packing), remnants of cloth, pipecleaners, construction paper, glitter, pine cones, ribbons, lace, and, well, you get the idea....This craft box, as we call it is actually one of those large plastic tubs that are usually used for storage. We are constantly adding to it.

As we make our decorations Christmas music is playing and we are sometimes singing along. I usually throw a cake or other delicious baked goods in the oven. The house smells great and we have a wonderful time. I usually make a special holiday drink on that day - it's a tea with orange and cinnamon flavor - very tasty and has just the right hint of specialness because I save it for the holiday season.

Besides the Christmas decorations we spend time writing letters to Santa Clause. The funny thing is that even the non-believers and full grown adults seem to enjoy this. Christmas really is magical - it seems to bring out the best in everyone.

The best part about writing a letter to Santa Clause is when he writes back! There is a website that offers this service for a very small price. The letters are personalized and look authentic enough to turn almost anyone into a believer again!

Simple traditions like these can make Christmas special and leave lasting memories that will always be cherished. If you don't have a craft box yet now's a good time to start collecting items that can be used for fun projects. And if you haven't written Santa in a few years, why not give that a try too? Surprise your kids with a genuine letter from Santa. The looks on their faces will be true Kodak moments!

Debbie C. The truth is that some people are more depressed during the holiday season than any other time of the year. This is sometimes due to loneliness but many other times it is related to feelings of powerlessness or complete failure when one is not able to provide the gifts or the Christmas that they feel their family deserves.

The good news is that the focus of Christmas doesn't have to be on gifts at all - instead, it can be placed on a nice tradition of getting together with family and loved ones. Just enjoying time together, having a nice meal and conversation can be a very nice way to celebrate the holidays.

As for the children, that can be very easy. Begin with fun things like doing simple craft projects. My family has always used Thanksgiving to mark the beginning of the Christmas holiday season. After our traditional dinner, the children gather around the table and write their first letters of the season to Santa. I say first because they usually end up writing two or sometimes three.

You know how that goes - the kids change their minds as time goes on and they worry that they will be on Santa's Naughty List because of some bad behavior so they write another letter to explain it away.

Another wonderful tradition is decorating our home. Once again the kids get in on the action. They enjoy making ornaments and other items to adorn the house. They proudly point out to visitors the things they have created.

By instilling these basic traditions in our children at an early age we are teaching them that there is more to Christmas than simply what is under the tree. In fact, one of our traditions is for the kids to make Christmas cards out of construction paper for the residents of a local nursing home.

We draw names for each of us in the family and the idea is that we have to 'make' the gift that we give. This has been a lot of fun for everyone - and even though the gifts are simple and sometimes, lacking the expertise needed to make them what they should be - they are extremely special because they were handcrafted just for us.

We also play silly games on Christmas Eve where the winners get a prize from the 99 cent store. It's good family fun.

By using your imagination and creativity you can find ways of making Christmas special. How about having your children receive a genuine letter from Santa direct from the North Pole? This inexpensive gift will become a treasured keepsake and you will cherish the delight on the kids' faces as they read the letters again and again.

I will be posting more ideas as time goes by so keep checking in!

Debbie C.
